WSU Student Success Center

Access for all: student-centered design supports academic achievement
Accessibility and sustainability inspire purposeful connection
Set on a 2.4-acre site, the state-of-the-art Student Success Center is a classroom building at Wright State University that provides a space to support the academic achievement of first-generation and academically at-risk college students.
EDGE worked closely with WSU to sensitively integrate accessible routes into the multi-level facility. Ramps and elevation change are used to activate and define student-focused spaces while creating connections to the surrounding campus. The design featured a significant rain garden that provides on-site storm water management for the building while experientially highlighting the university’s commitment to sustainability.
The courtyard is one of those places that is outside but still feels like a room. To me, it’s another one of those informal spaces that students, faculty and staff can gather.
