Design 101: building renovation leads to transformed campus space

New entry plaza and amphitheater improve student experience

The renovation of Columbus Hall created a 21st-century learning environment for the library on Columbus State Community College’s main campus. As a part of the building transformation, EDGE designed a new entry plaza and amphitheater, providing an improved entry experience and creating an outdoor gathering spot. These elements also engage the building more effectively with the existing campus pedestrian mall.

In designing the space details, we carefully considered every element to maximize function. In addition, we chose materials to complement the building and the adjacent campus context.
