Toledo, Ohio – April 6, 2024
EDGE is proud to announce the addition of Kristyn Bowden, a landscape architect and project manager with 18 years of experience, to our team. With a wealth of experience across the Midwest and East Coast, Kristyn returns to her roots in Northwest, Ohio, to embark on the next step in her career as EDGE’s newest Senior Associate. Her arrival signifies a major milestone for EDGE and reinforces our commitment to delivering dynamic design solutions for the Toledo community and beyond.
Kristyn’s Background
Prior to pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University, Kristyn’s journey into the realm of landscape design was shaped by her upbringing in Sylvania, Ohio. Influenced by her mother’s love for nature and her father’s meticulous attention to detail, Kristyn’s professional path is imbued with a deep-rooted appreciation for the environment and community.
Over the past 18 years, Kristyn has served as an Associate and Project Manager for a Midwest-based planning, urban design, and landscape architecture studio. Leading a number of notable projects from the campus of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, to Centennial Commons in Royal Oak, Michigan, Kristyn’s portfolio boasts a diverse range of projects spanning higher education campuses, urban design, and parks and recreation. Her meticulous attention to detail, coupled with a steadfast commitment to sustainable practices, has consistently yielded designs that seamlessly integrate aesthetic appeal with functional efficiency.
Beyond her professional achievements, Kristyn’s passion for landscape architecture extends to her home life. A fervent soccer enthusiast and avid gardener, she finds inspiration in the harmony between nature and human interaction. This intrinsic connection informs her approach to design with a sense of purpose and authenticity that resonates deeply with EDGE’s own ethos.
Words of Welcome
As Kristyn embarks on this new chapter with EDGE, we could not extend a more enthusiastic welcome. With her unique blend of expertise and passion, Kristyn is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of landscape architecture in the region, and as a leader within our firm.
“Kristyn’s return to the Toledo area is a homecoming of sorts, and we couldn’t be more excited that she chose to take the next step in her career with EDGE,” remarked Tim Bockbrader, Principal and Director of EDGE’s Toledo office. “Her achievements and leadership qualities make her an invaluable addition to EDGE, and personally, she is a fantastic fit for our culture. We look forward to leveraging her diverse experience to bring insight and skill to complex projects, in addition to her ability to provide leadership and guidance as we continue to cultivate our staff. I am not just excited for our team, but for the Toledo community. I can’t wait to see what we will achieve with the addition of Kristyn’s leadership.”
Looking Ahead
One of Kristyn’s first projects with the firm will be the revitalization of her hometown’s downtown streetscape—a project close to her heart. “I’m thrilled to be joining EDGE and embarking on this new chapter in my career,” said Kristyn.
Kristyn’s welcome into our collaborative culture comes at a pivotal moment in our firm. Celebrating 20 years in business in 2024, we are looking forward to the impact we can make in our communities over the next twenty. Kristyn will be poised to play an impactful role in our direction moving forward, and we are excited to have her, and our other rising leaders, share in our vision.
Together, we aspire to redefine the boundaries of landscape architecture, and craft environments that inspire and endure. Through shared passion and unwavering dedication, we envision a future where each project serves as a catalyst for positive change within our communities.
