Preservation partnership: long-term vision supports living history village

Helping Black Swamp heritage come to life

Located in Northwest Ohio, this historic village and farm opened in 1976 to preserve the heritage of Ohio’s Black Swamp area. As Ohio’s largest living history destination, the 239-acre campus features historic structures, shops, exhibits, and amenities that explore daily life in the area throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

EDGE has a well-established relationship with Sauder Village and has been partnering on projects since it first developed the campus-wide comprehensive master plan in 2001. We’re proud to be a part of Sauder Village’s continuing growth, its growing popularity, and its success as a historic preservation pioneer in Northern Ohio.


Planning the future of Ohio history

Since 2001, EDGE has continued to work on numerous campus projects, ranging from recreational facility development, parking and traffic circulation studies, building relocation evaluations, storm-water management, site grading improvements, plant design, and exhibition implementation.

Specific projects include a Main Entrance Redevelopment Plan, Storm Water Management Master Plan, a fully functioning 1920’s Main Street, and a plan to upgrade an existing Museum. Each project requires extensive planning, design, and months of preparation.
