Cleveland Metroparks

This park system is positioned to be a model for sustainable green infrastructure for generations to come.

EDGE led a team of consultants in the creation of a strategic plan that sets the direction for this 22,000-acre park system to sustain its conservation, education, and recreation mission and enhance its status as a leading regional asset over the next 100 years. Key issues include natural resource management in an urban environment, the role of Metroparks in serving urban populations, and its overall economic, cultural, and environmental function in a regional open space network that includes the Cuyahoga River and the Lake Erie waterfront.

The Strategic Plan provides recommendations for large scale environmental planning, water front conservation and recreation, park operations and management, and "place making" with parks as a public health and wellness investment.
